Buttermarket Re-Launch

September 26, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

After many many months of hard work and £2million investment, the Buttermarket main arena was finally opened last Friday evening. (21/09/2012)

Boasting a full line up of artists from the last 20 years or so, including Britains Got Talent finalists "The Loveable Rogues", along with Europe's largest laser and light show, all hosted by the very talented Vicky Jackson, the club was all set for a fabulous night of entertainment.

Europes Largest Laser and Light Show The VIP guests started arriving around 6:30pm for the champagne reception and by 7:00pm the VIP mezzanine floor, looking stunning with tasteful decor, massive chandelier and lovely lighting streaming in through beautifully restored high sash windows, was buzzing with guests, all voicing their approval of the clubs new look.

The ground floor dance and club area soon filled in anticipation of the nights entertainment which was kicked off with the awesome laser and light show which boasts Europe's largest laser. And what show it was. Gasps, oohs, aah's and WOW's were all anybody seemed to say for the 10 minutes that the lighting engineering guys were let loose with their new toys.

Once everyone had calmed down and caught their breath, they were then treated to the remarkable talents Vicky Jackson who was to host the evening in fantastic style.

Opening the evening with some Lady GaGa and Pink renditions, Vicky then went on to introduce the nights entertainment, starting with local talent "The Making" who got the ball rolling in style.
The Making are a four-piece indie rock n roll band hailing from Newport and Telford. Their unique blend of 60’s Rock ‘n’ Roll and modern day indie creates a sound for the future. The past 2 years have seen the rise of the young quartet. 2011 saw them create a name for themselves around the Shropshire circuit, as well as get their first serious batch of songs recorded and played on BBC Radio Shropshire.

Go West

Vicky Jackson then introduced 80's sensation "5 Star" who were filling in for T'Pau's Carol Decker who was suffering from a sore throat and showed everyone that they are real star quality.
Family group Five Star have had a string of hit singles since All Fall Down in April 1985. Some of their other successes have been Let Me Be The One, System Addict, Can't Wait Another Minute, Rain or Shine... just to name a few.

5 Star were followed by the duo of Peter Cox and Richard Drummie, better known as "Go West" who belted out their popular and well known hits with superb professionalism.
Their album 'Go West' sold 1.5 million copies worldwide and remained on the UK chart for 83 weeks, establishing them as one of the greatest songwriting duos to emerge in the 80’s. In 1986 they won the BRIT Award for ‘Best British Newcomer’ - the one BRIT which is decided by the listening public.

Vicky Jackson By now, the wonderful Vicky Jackson had the full house audience eating out of her hands and they were quite happy for her to sing a few extra songs whilst we waited for "The Loveable Rogues" who had been unavoidably delayed en-route.
Belting out hit after hit and getting the audience fully involved and singing along, Vicky was the perfect host and build up to the nights headline act.

The Loveable Rogues are a young multi talented group consisting of three fun loving lads who are establishing their rightful place within the music industry with their aim of creating a new style of music which isn't defined by a specific genre.
Eddie, Sonny and Té have performed at gigs around the UK and last year the lads won The Jack Wills Unsigned Competition 2010 from which they received the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Jack Wills Varsity Polo Event.
In Britain's Got Talent 2012 the cheeky chaps charmed the audience and the judges with their witty self-penned song "Lovesick" at the audition stages. Singing the stupendously catchy song once more in the Semi Finals, the lads came out tops and competed in the Final where once again they performed an original track "Honest" which was met with outstanding comments from the judges.

Tonight the guys wowed the audience with their own songs and covers including a witty rendition of The "Beatles" Help and got everybody in the mood for the takeover by the DJ's who would once again dazzle the audience with more of Europe's largest laser show until the early hours.
Eddie, Sonny and Té the held a meet and greet with their fans before shooting off to Worcester for another gig.

Loveable Rogues Meet And Greet If tonight is any indication of what Martin and his team have in store for this the revamped club, then the future of entertainment in Shrewsbury is in very safe hands.
